Paul was born and educated in England, and during the
40s and 50s, he served in Royal Navy. He worked as an electronics engineer in
America, Uk, Europe and Australia. In 1974 he transferred to Australia with his
family.
Paul is now retired, and lives on the south coast of
NSW.
Since his retirement Paul has been quite busy writing
books, short stories and articles. Many of his short stories have been
published in national magazines and local newspapers.
Over the last few years, he has written six books, ‘Zoom One’, ‘Commando’ and ‘Frogger’-
the first three books in the children’s series “Knights of Bonalla’, ‘Voyage of a Lifetime’ - The true story of a truck driver and his
family who sailed out from England, bound for Australia in an old fishing boat,
‘Tunguska’, a general Sci Fi based on
actual incidents, and ‘The Punishment’, an anthology of short stories.
Paul says writing his first book was
relatively easy, however, he added, the hard part was the editing. After a
while he stated that the pages swam before his eyes and lines blurred into each
other. He went on to say it was difficult, and strict discipline was necessary,
It took him a full six months, and still he was not satisfied that it was
correct and error free. Eventually he told a friend of his the difficulty he
was having, and being a good and true friend, he offered to do the final edit
for Paul! Paul said he had never actually met him. He explained by saying they
started corresponding on the Internet many years ago.
Paul is presently working on his
life story; from age 3 years until he joined the Royal Navy at 17 years old.
Paul confessed to PnPAuthor
that he is a member of Maurice Tudor’s BookShelf and Coop. Maurice has a number of initiatives that give
really good support to Authors.
Paul said he was recommended
to PnP Author by Maurice Tudor as being a friend to Authors and providing help
in promoting my work and meeting other authors
Paul told PnPAuthors Book
Club thath started to write his first book by accident. He continued by saying when he first arrived in Australia, he had the
job of setting up service centres around the country. On his first trip to
Western Australia his wife asked him to look in on a friend of hers if he had
time. Paul knew the friend, but not well, although he had read of his adventure
in national newspapers, so he was keen to visit the friend, Don Caisley, his
wife and two sons - the family that had made the voyage from England to
Australia in an old fishing boat. Don and Lena told Paul all about their
adventure and he was completely rapt by their story. He asked if they had
thought about writing the story and trying to get it published. They told Paul
that a local author had asked to write a book, but wanted to treat the voyage
as a comedy. That immediately upset Don, and later on, when he discovered Paul
wrote the odd short story, he asked him if he would write a true account of the
voyage. Paul agreed to do it, but warned it may take a while as he was very
busy with work. Two years later, the writing was finished, then started the
soul destroying task of finding a publisher. He says that is another and very
long story so we hope to hear about this story when we spotlight Paul again
soon.
Voyage of a Lifetime is the true story of a truck driver with an indomitable spirit, who
decided to emigrate to Australia in his own way. He bought an old fishing boat;
even though he had no knowledge of boats, sailing or navigation, and spent a
year making it seaworthy and liveable. Then he sold his truck, home and
business and put his wife and two young boys on board the boat that now had an
old bus engine for power and a telegraph pole for a mast, and sailed away from
England on a voyage that was to take the family one year!
Don Caisley is a man who believes that whatever you set your mind to
do is possible if you want it enough. But he could not have achieved his goal
without his wife, Lena. Lena was the cohesive force that held family and the
various crew members they picked up, together, throughout the year long
voyage.
Voyage of a Lifetime is a book of adventure, family togetherness, fun and even danger at
times. A book for the whole family.

Note from Paul: My latest book, Tunguska is a venture
into Science Fiction.
I have always been fascinated by the inexplicable, especially when
Governments give the official explanations
for mysterious events that fly in the face of reason. Of the many mysteries
that defy explanations, the Bermuda Triangle, UFOs and the cataclysmic
explosion that occurred in Russia in 1908 are the most notable.
Tunguska is written around the latter, but shows tenuous links to
all three!
Early on a June morning in 1908 a tremendous explosion rocked an area in
Siberia around Tunguska. The peasants within 50 miles of the blast saw a
multi-coloured, mushroom shaped cloud slowly rising high into the sky. Later
there were accounts of animals and those brave humans who ventured into the
area of the explosion being struck down with a strange sickness.
Scientists said that the explosion that caused shock waves to circle the
Earth several times was the result of a meteor. But meteors strike the Earth
and leave a crater. This blast was at least a mile above the surface, and there
was no crater - just a million trees flattened and laid out in lines radiating
from the centre of the explosion.
Another perplexing fact that cast doubt on the 'meteor' theory was that
the object slowed down and changed direction before it exploded, according to
eyewitnesses.
Scientists believe
it was a meteor, and completely discount any other explanation, even though
eye-witness evidence points to some sort of control!
Tunguska is pure Sci Fi by necessity, and a tongue in cheek scenario incorporating
the inexplicable events mentioned. Read to enjoy or criticize if you feel the
need.
Paul, your books sound fascinating. Voyage of a Lifetime has caught my attention. It is added to my TBR list.
